The 5th Annual Pink Flamingo Awards Tickets
The 5th Annual Pink Flamingo Awards, one of South Florida’s most fun and entertaining events, will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the James L. Knight Center. The evening honors the people, places and organizations that have demonstrated the highest level of excellence in our community throughout the year, as determined by a community vote.
The Pink Flamingo Awards is the premier fundraiser for the Hub at the LGBT Visitor Center, whose mission is to foster social engagement and community wellness by promoting businesses, attractions, organizations and special events that serve LGBT visitors and residents within the Greater Miami Area.
More than 500 people are expected to attend the event, all brand-loyal, high-profile community influencers, political leaders, entertainment and hospitality professionals and members of the South Florida business community. “At the event, we showcase a select variety of the area’s top talent, businesses and organizations,” said Lori Lynch, Executive Director of the Hub at the LGBT Visitor Center. “This serves to raise awareness for the cultural, economic and social diversity that defines South Florida. This year will be our most extravagant to date!”
In addition to an open bar cocktail reception and delectable three-course dinner, the live entertainment will feature music from the Miami Big Sound Orchestra, downtown Miami's resident Latin Jazz big band since 2006. A project formed as a collaboration of musicians from Miami's jazz and Latin music communities, the band combines 21st-century big band jazz with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music, funk, and soul. Several of the highly-accomplished members of the orchestra have played on numerous Grammy Award winning projects. Dance Now Miami! will also provide creative performances, and celebrity comedian/actress Julie Goldman from BRAVO TV returns as the evening’s emcee.
The Pink Flamingo Awards is not only a celebration of community members; it is also an important fundraiser for programs offered at the Hub of the LGBT Visitor Center. Programs earmarked for support from last year’s event include an LGBT Cancer Support Group, Transgender Support Group, Bereavement Support Group, Crystal Meth Anonymous, Smart Recovery and HIV testing. The Hub builds strong community by fostering social engagement and community wellness, offering a variety of workshops, group activities and panel discussions under the theme of personal wellness. It also provides essential resources for LGBTQ tourists, promoting socioeconomic development and tourism.
